When Diyan Papers LLP decided to enter the duplex board segment, the company was not simply buying a paper machine — it was committing to a new product line, a new process and a significant capital investment. The Client

Diyan Papers LLP is a paper and board manufacturer located in Morbi, Gujarat — one of India’s most dynamic industrial clusters. Under the leadership of its Managing Director, Mr. Manish Patel, the company set out to establish a 200 TPD duplex board line as its entry into multi-ply board production, with the ambition of competing on quality and consistency in a demanding market.

The Challenge

Duplex board is a multi-layer product that demands precise sheet formation, balanced dewatering across each ply, and tight control of moisture and fibre bonding to achieve the required stiffness, smoothness and printability. Producing it consistently at 200 TPD calls for robust forming technology and deep process know-how. For Diyan Papers, this was their first 4-wire duplex board project — a substantial step up in both scale and complexity. The company needed a partner who could not only supply machinery, but also engineer the complete line, manufacture it, build it on site, and prove its performance in production.

Backed by a well-equipped composite engineering and heavy-fabrication facility and more than two decades of paper-machinery experience, JMC translated Diyan Papers’ requirements into a fully engineered 4-wire multi-fourdrinier forming line, manufactured the precision equipment in-house, oversaw site construction, and led the commissioning of the plant. In a multi-fourdrinier configuration each ply of the board is formed on its own wire and then couched together — enabling high production rates with excellent control over every layer. It is the technology of choice for duplex and multi-ply board, and a field in which JMC is a recognised pioneer.

Results & Performance

The outcome speaks for itself. Following commissioning, Diyan Papers’ 200 TPD line achieved production levels that exceeded the company’s initial expectations. Just as importantly, JMC consistently delivered on its commitments throughout the project — the kind of reliability that gives a manufacturer the confidence to scale up and to invest further.

A successful start-up was not the end of the relationship; it was the beginning. Drawing on its process expertise, JMC proactively recommended the installation of a Top Dewatering Unit on Diyan Papers’ multi-fourdrinier plant to further enhance forming and dewatering performance. Diyan Papers placed the order with JMC, and the unit was successfully commissioned by the JMC team — leaving the client, in their own words, “extremely satisfied.” Today, Diyan Papers regards JMC as its main supplier and advisor for its board project.
